What should you do after storm damage to your home?
We are home repair experts on the Gold Coast, QLD, serving our neighbouring suburbs with mobile repairs in Southport, Burleigh Heads, Robina and right across the city.
Summer storm cells are a fact of life in south-east Queensland. No need to panic — here is what to do.
KEEP CLEAR AND MAKE SAFE.
Stay away from sagging ceilings, fallen power lines and damaged structures — a ceiling holding storm water can come down without warning. For emergency help with a damaged roof or fallen trees, call the SES on 132 500.
PHOTOGRAPH EVERYTHING.
Before you move or clean up anything, take clear photos of the damage, what caused it, and any damaged contents. Date-stamped photos are exactly what your insurer will ask for.
STOP THE WATER IF YOU SAFELY CAN.
A tarp over broken tiles, a cleared downpipe, or towels at a leaking door can save thousands of dollars of ceiling and floor. Only do what is safe from the ground.
BOOK REPAIRS EARLY.
Storm damage left open to the next storm always gets worse. Call us on 0405 351 151 or describe the damage through our quote form, and our team will come to you anywhere on the Gold Coast and tell you honestly what is urgent.
DID YOU KNOW?
Insurers treat sudden storm damage very differently from long-term wear that was left unattended. Documenting the damage the day you find it can make the difference between a covered claim and a knocked-back one. Our maintenance visits exist so "left unattended" is never true of your place.
